Managing Socialive User Roles

In Socialive, users can have one of five roles: Admin, Producer, Creator, Contributor, or Guest. In this article, we will go over the following topics:

Please note: You need to be an administrator in your Socialive account to make changes to a user's role.

User Roles and Their Permissions

View and Delete in the Recordings Library

  • Contributors can only view recordings they create.

  • Creators and Producers have access to all recordings as long as they are members of the Space in which the recordings were created.

  • Admins can view all recordings regardless of Space access.

Editing User Roles

  1. In Socialive, open Account Settings in the bottom left.

  1. You will see the list of users created in your Socialive account. Select the user from the list. If you have a lot of users, you can use the search bar to find them more easily.

  1. To edit a user's role, click the drop-down menu under the Roles column and select between Admin, Producer, Creator, Contributor, or Guest. You cannot modify your user role.

Note that if a user role is not included in your plan, it will not be available in the dropdown.

Licensing Board

The Socialive Licensing board displays the total number of each user role type for the account. If an account has no licenses for any particular user type, that user type will not be displayed in the Licensing Board, and admins will not be able to create user accounts with that user type.

The License Board can be accessed by going to Settings > selecting Users > and clicking View Licensing.

Summary of Role Access

  • Admin: End-to-end platform access including managing users, spaces, distribution and publishing channels, and templates. Admins can also record, edit, publish, and livestream. Every account needs at least 1.

  • Producers: Users with end-to-end access to record in Recording Booth, manage group sessions in Studio and Green Room, access library of recordings, editing using the Text-Based Editor, publishing on-demand, and livestreaming.

  • Creators: Users with access to Recording Booth (and inviting Contributors), editing using the Text-Based Editor, and publishing on-demand.

  • Contributors: Recording subjects who can be invited to record independently in the Recording Booth or to join guided recordings/podcasts/webinars in the Green Room.
