Bring Zoom Meetings and Webinars into Socialive

You can configure your Zoom account to livestream a meeting or webinar to Socialive. You can configure this before the event to stream with one click after your meeting or webinar begins. This article is a step-by-step guide to bringing Zoom meetings and webinars into Socialive.

Prerequisites

To bring Zoom into Socialive, you need to:

  • RTMP Sources enabled in your plan. Contact your Customer Success Manager to add RTMP Sources to your plan.
  • Meet Zoom requirements to stream meetings and webinars:
    • Have a Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise account
    • The host is Licensed (for streaming meetings) or has a Webinar License (for streaming webinars)
    • Have the Zoom desktop app installed on their computers
      • Windows: version 4.0.29183.0407 or higher 
      • macOS: version 4.0.29208.0410 or higher
    • Have Group HD video/Full HD (1080p) enabled for higher video quality
  • Enable custom live streaming for Zoom meetings or Webinars

Process

Getting Your Socialive RTMP Source Stream URL and Stream Key

To add a live stream to Socialive, you'll need your Socialive stream URL and stream key into the streaming source; in this case, it's Zoom. 

Stream URL

Your Socialive stream URL comprises two parts: the URL and your broadcast ID, together they make up a URL like the below:

rtmp://ingest.us-east.socialive.us/rtmp/b-YOUR_BROADCAST_ID/

To find your broadcast ID, you need to:

  1. Create a new Socialive Studio session.
  2. Inspect the URL in the address bar. The ID is the number after "b-" (as highlighted below).

Replace YOUR_BROADCAST_ID in the URL above with the ID of your Studio session. The final stream URL will look like the below:

rtmp://ingest.us-east.socialive.us/rtmp/b-340d55552956d62fd/

Stream Key

Speak to your Customer Success Manager to inquire about adding RTMP Sources to your plan. Once enabled in your account, you will receive your private RTMP Sources stream key from Socialive Support. The stream key will look like the below:

Setting Up Custom Live Streaming in Zoom

Once you have your Socialive stream URL and stream key. You can set up custom live streaming when you schedule a Zoom meeting or webinar. This will allow you to livestream the meeting or webinar without needing to configure this after the event begins. Follow the steps in the following sections:

Setting Up Custom Live Streaming for a Scheduled Zoom Meeting

  1. Log into the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Meetings.
  3. Click Schedule a Meeting and enter the required information.
  4. Click Save to display a set of tabs with advanced options.
  5. Click the Live Streaming tab and then click Configure Custom Streaming Service.
  6. Enter the RTMP stream URL and stream key provided by Socialive into the corresponding fields.
  7. Under Resolution, select Full HD(1080P) when streaming a meeting if the setting's value is 1080p.
  8. Click Save to save your live streaming settings.

Setting Up Custom Live Streaming for a Scheduled Zoom Webinar

  1. Log into the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Webinars.
  3. Click Schedule a Webinar and enter the required information.
  4. Click Schedule to display a set of tabs with advanced options.
  5. Click the More tab and then click Configure Custom Streaming Service in the Live Streaming section.
  6. Enter the RTMP stream URL and stream key provided by Socialive into the corresponding fields.
  7. Under Resolution, select Full HD(1080P) when streaming a webinar if the setting's value is 1080p.
  8. Click Save to save your live streaming settings.

Starting the Live Stream of a Scheduled Zoom Meeting or Webinar

To live stream your meeting or webinar to Socialive:

  1. Start the meeting/webinar as the host by doing one of the following:
    • From your calendar: If you have added the meeting/webinar to your calendar, click the link displayed on your calendar reminder.
    • From the Zoom website: Sign in to Zoom, find the meeting or webinar on the Meetings or Webinars page, and click Start.
  2. Click the More button in the host controls.
  3. Choose Live on Custom Live Stream Service. A browser window opens and shows the progress as Zoom prepares the live stream of your meeting or webinar.
  4. In Socialive Studio, you'll see the Zoom meeting or webinar appear as a Live Source feed. Drag the Zoom video feed into the layout of a scene in your run-of-show.

Configuring and Starting the Custom Live Stream During a Zoom Meeting or Webinar

If you haven't set up the custom live stream of your Zoom meeting or webinar beforehand, you can configure it and start the live streaming in the middle of the meeting or webinar.

  1. During the meeting or webinar, click the More button in the host controls.
  2. Choose Live on Custom Live Stream Service.
  3. Enter the RTMP stream URL and stream key provided by Socialive into the corresponding fields.
  4. Under Resolution, select Full HD(1080P) when streaming a webinar if the setting's value is 1080p.
  5. Click the Go Live! button when ready.
