Socialive makes it easy to bring together multiple presenters from remote locations into a broadcast, and sometimes you may want to record or broadcast a Microsoft Teams meeting using Socialive. This article will go over the steps to:

• Enable NDI in Microsoft Teams
• Choose an NDI Active Feed

Prerequisites

Before you can proceed:

• Your Microsoft Teams Admin has to Allow NDI Streaming for each user from the Teams Admin Center. For instructions, refer to the article Microsoft Teams: How to Enable NDI Streaming.
• The computer running Socialive needs to have NDI Virtual Input installed and running. For instructions, refer to the article on Installing NDI Virtual Input on Your Computer.

Process

Enabling NDI In Microsoft Teams

NDI (Network Device Interface) technology allows you to broadcast the audio and video streams from a Teams meeting to your local network. A computer running Socialive on the same network can bring that Teams video feed in as a live source.

Once your Teams Admin has enabled NDI Streaming from the Teams Admin Center, follow these steps to enable NDI for your user:

1. Go to your user profile picture in the upper-right of Teams, select Settings, and click on Permissions.
   
2. Turn on the toggle next to Network Device Interface (NDI).

After enabling NDI in Teams, all meetings you join will have streams available via NDI over your local network. When you join a meeting in the Teams desktop app, you will be notified that broadcasting capabilities are turned on.

NDI Output Options in Teams

Once NDI is enabled, the following streams will be available:

• Primary Speaker - A stream will be generated that automatically switched to whoever is actively speaking from all the incoming streams (the audio or video from your computer will not be included).
• Local - A stream will be generated of the audio/video sent to the meeting from your computer. This allows you to have the same audio/video in both the meeting and your local NDI production.
• Individual Users - Each user will have a stream available over NDI. The incoming audio for a meeting is mixed together and will be the same for all individual user streams. These streams will display the video at the same quality that the client is receiving.
• Screen Sharing - Any incoming screen sharing will be available as an NDI stream.
• Large Gallery and Together Mode - Both of these modes will have their own NDI stream available.

Choosing an NDI Active Feed

Once NDI Virtual Input is running,  you can select any active feed from the NDI application menu.

The NDI source will appear in the Live Sources panel in Socialive Studio.
