Creating Full-Sized Overlay Graphics in Google Slides

Creating lower-thirds, graphics, and overlays can be as simple as dragging the layout template into Google Slides, inserting shapes/figures on the slide, and adding images and text boxes. This article provides the steps to create full-screen overlays using Google Slides.

Process

  1. The first step is to start a new and blank Google Slides presentation. Make sure to do the following:
    1. Go to File > Page Setup > Custom, and set the slide's dimensions to 1280 x 720 pixels.
    2. Go to Slide > Change Background, and set the background Transparent.
    3. Go to Layout, and set it Blank.
  2. Next, identify which layout you want to use in your session where you will need to use lower-thirds or other graphics. Check out the Layout Template Dimensions support article to find the template.
  3. Once you have identified the template, drag and drop the template image into your Google Slides.
  4. Move or resize the template image to fit the slides.
  5. Add in the shapes and text boxes to create your lower-thirds or graphics for your session. You can also add your company logo to the graphics.
  6. Once ready, delete the template image from the slides.
  7. Go to File > Download > PNG image to download the slide. If you created multiple graphics for your layouts, you need to download each slide individually.
  8. Upload the graphics in Socialive Studio. These will be available to use in any session created within the same space.
