Using a Video as a Second Source in the Socialive Editor

The Socialive Editor allows you to create one scene using two media sources. By combining two media sources, such as video and audio or text and images, you can provide a richer, multi-dimensional experience.

Currently, the add media source feature is intended to add images to a scene.

It is possible to add videos, but adding a video as a second source within a scene requires additional review and direction. This article reviews those nuances when adding video as a second source.

Video and Audio

Combining these can create a more immersive scene. Video provides visual context, while audio adds emotional depth through sound effects, music, or dialogue. The synergy between the two can make the scene more engaging and dynamic.

To accomplish this effect the following steps need to be taken.

  1. Create a new scene with the first (video) media asset

  1. Click Sources

  1. Click Add Image

  1. Add a Video

  1. When prompted with the popup notice that this feature is intended for use with images, select Continue Anyway.

  1. Two videos are now added to one scene.

  1. If the videos are exactly the same length, the video is ready to publish after muting one video in the sources panel. Note that typically, the length of the two video sources is not synchronized.

  1. The yellow line on the waveform signifies the ending of the shorter video. This allows the opportunity to clip or edit the videos so they end at the same time.

  1. If playing two videos within a scene make sure to mute one video using the mute feature in the sources panel.

  1. To switch the timeline and transcript of the video you’re viewing go to the text editor and switch the video on the dropdown.
