The Recording Booth option in the Socialive iOS app allows you to record great video content from anywhere in the world, at any time which automatically uploads to the Socialive library

This article serves as a guide to record videos internally with the Socialive iOS app.

Prerequisites

Before you start, you need to install the Socialive iOS app on your iPhone or iPad. Once you have the app installed, turn on Do Not Disturb, turn off Portrait Lock, and close other apps running in the background. This allows you to focus on recording with no distractions and ensures a smooth experience within the app. 

Process

1. Open the Socialive app and log in to your Socialive account. If you were sent a direct link, you can use that link to log into the app. 

2. Tap the Record option on the bottom of your screen.

3. On the Record tab, tap Recording Booth
   

4. On the next screen:

   1. Use the guide to frame your speaker
      

   2. Tap the icon in the top right corner to choose between HD or 4K recording

      • Virtual Backgrounds and iOS effects are only available when recording in HD

   3. Tap the Settings icon at the bottom-left of your screen.

      • General - Allows you to access iOS video effects such as Studio Lighting, Portrait and Reactions.For iPad users, Center Stage will also appear as an option.
        

      • Adjust - Allows for manual adjustments to Brightness, Temperature and Saturation, but the app will auto adjust by default.

      • Prompt - Will open the iOS Teleprompter. You can learn how to use the Teleprompter here

      • Background - Add a blur effect or upload your own virtual background from your iOS photo library. Here are additional details on this feature. 

   4. If needed, you can switch between your selfie and the main camera by tapping the switch button next to the Settings icon.

5. When you are ready, tap the Record button to record. A countdown of 5 seconds will appear.
   

6. When you are done, click Stop Recording at the bottom-right of your screen.
   

7. A prompt will appear where you can add a title and description to your recording before uploading.

8. Tap Upload or Delete the recording to do another take.

9. Upon closing the recording booth,, you will see that your recording is being uploaded to the Recordings Library. Wait until the upload is complete before exiting the app. It may take several minutes to upload a video. (If you do need to leave the app for something urgent, please come back and leave the app open until the video fully uploads.) 

Best Practices

• Center yourself within the camera frame.

• If you are using selfie mode, position the camera so it captures your head, shoulders, and the top of your torso.

• Position your device on a stable surface to avoid shaky video.

• Avoid covering the device camera lens with your finger while filming.

• Subjects should project and enunciate clearly when speaking.

• Use a microphone for the best audio quality.

• Start your recording and take a breath before you begin speaking on camera.

• End your recording after you have finished speaking completely.

• Avoid subjects being backlit.
