This article serves as a guide for guests to capture device recordings without a host present. Below you can find instructions for both desktop and mobile.
On desktop and iOS devices, you can record yourself in the Recording Booth. While on Android, you can record yourself using “Record Internally”. All of these recording options are not affected by network conditions. The only difference is that in the mobile (for iOS), you can record in up to 4K resolution (on supported devices), while the Android “Record Internally” option allows you to record in up to 1080p resolution.

Process
Desktop
Guests joining the desktop Recording Booth can capture device recordings in up to 1080p resolution, depending on the resolution of the webcam being used.
- Producers provide guests with a secure link to enter. You’ll need to join and enter the Recording Booth with the link. Familiarize yourself with the interface of the Recording Booth.
- Take your time to get ready. A few suggestions below:
- Center yourself within the camera frame.
- Avoid having light sources behind you.
- Use a microphone for the best audio quality.
- Check that your microphone is correctly set up and selected in the Green Room.
- If you’re using an external webcam, make sure it is correctly set up and selected in the Green Room.
- Project and enunciate clearly when speaking.
- Complete a test take
- Review your test take to make sure your recording sounds and looks good.
- Whenever you’re ready, start recording. Remember, you can do as many takes as needed to get it right.
- When you’re finished recording, follow these steps to leave the Recording Booth and upload your recordings:
- Click the red “end call” button at the bottom of the screen and click Yes to confirm.
- On the next screen, your recording(s) will start uploading. Wait for the upload to complete.
- Once the upload is complete, click the Close Window button that appears on the screen.
iOS Mobile
Joining the Recording Booth to Record
Guests joining the Recording Booth to record can capture video in up to 4K resolution.
Note:
The ability to record in the Recording Booth on the mobile app is available for iOS devices. Android uses record internally functionality.
4K resolution video is only available on these supported iOS devices.
Process
- First, you’ll need to enter the Recording Booth where you’ll be recording.
- Take your time to get ready to record. Make sure of the following:
- Center yourself within the camera frame.
- If you are using selfie mode, position the camera so it captures your head, shoulders, and the top of your torso.
- Position your device on a stable surface to avoid shaky video.
- Avoid covering the device camera lens with your finger while filming.
- Avoid having light sources behind you.
- Use a microphone for the best audio quality.
- Check that your microphone is correctly set up and selected in the Green Room
- Project and enunciate clearly when speaking.
- Whenever you’re ready, start recording. Remember, you can do as many takes as needed to get it right.
- When you’re finished recording, follow these steps to leave the Recording Booth and upload your recordings:
- Tap the red “end call” button at the bottom of the screen and tap >Yes to confirm.
- On the next screen, your recording(s) will start uploading. Wait for the upload to complete.
- Once the upload is complete and the videos are processed, you can leave the app.
Android Recording Internally with the Socialive Mobile App
Contributors using the “Record internally” option in the Socialive Android mobile app can capture video in up to 1080p resolution. For instructions to capture an internal recording, refer to the article below.
Uploading Pre-Recorded Videos with the Socialive Mobile App
Contributors Guests can also capture video using their device’s native camera app and then upload it to the Socialive Recordings Library. For instructions on how to upload videos, refer to the article below.
This feature is only available on the Socialive for iOS app.
