Cvent lets you use Brightcove, Vimeo, or their own video player for live streams, pre-recorded, or simulive sessions on their Attendee Hub website and you can broadcast from Socialive into any of these video players. This article provides instructions on how to set up the video players and connect them to Socialive for your broadcast.
The instructions below apply to Cvent producers using the New Experience.
Process
Using Cvent's Video Player
If you do not have a Vimeo or Brightcove account, follow the steps below to stream to Cvent's video player.
In Cvent, create and set up your Flex Event. Follow the instructions in Cvent's support article to create a Flex Event in the New Experience.
Once you have created your Flex Event, from the left-hand navigation, go to Agenda > Session List, and select your Session. The Details tab opens by default.
Click the Video Settings tab, and then click Edit. If you do not see the Edit option, make sure that the event format is set to Virtual under General > Event Information.
Configure the video settings for your session.
In the Session Setup section, select Live from the drop-down.
Under Session Type, select Livestream.
Under Video Streaming Tool, select External Platform.
On the Video Player drop-down, select Cvent Video Player. If you do not see the Video Player drop-down, make sure the "Attendee Hub" option is enabled for the event under General > Event Features.
Next, decide if you want the session to be recorded.
Scroll down to the Video Player Details section. Under the Video Source Region drop-down, select Virginia.
Click Save.
Wait for the streaming details to be generated. In the Video Settings tab, the Video ID, Stream URL, and Stream Key will be automatically generated 48 hours prior to the session. Some other things to keep in mind:
The Stream URL activates 90 minutes before the session start time and is required to live stream the session, along with the Stream Key.
The Stream URL will be deactivated 30 minutes after the session start time. If you do not start the live stream, meaning that you can start the live stream up to 29 minutes after the session begins before the Stream URL is deactivated.
If you need to push your session start time back after the Stream URL has been created, go to the Details tab and click Edit to adjust the session time, then click Save. Keep in mind that the Stream URL will still deactivate 30 minutes after the new session start time.
Once the streaming details appear, copy the Stream URL and Stream Key.
In Socialive Studio, follow the steps to add an RTMP connection.
