Twitter has officially discontinued its Periscope apps as of March 31, 2021. Its mobile apps have been removed from app stores, but periscope.tv will remain available as a read-only archive of public broadcasts.
Can I continue using Socialive to broadcast live to Twitter?
Yes, Twitter has indicated that "you will still be able to create broadcasts through Periscope for a limited time." It is not clear how long Periscope will be supported, so we recommend getting familiar with Twitter Media Studio.
What if I can no longer connect Socialive to Periscope? Can I still broadcast live to Twitter?
Yes. If for any reason you are unable to connect Socialive to Twitter via Periscope, you can set up broadcasts manually within Twitter Media Studio at studio.twitter.com. Media Studio has been enabled for many users with linked Twitter accounts, but If you do not have access, please reach out to your Twitter account manager.
Will Socialive integrate directly with Twitter in the future?
Yes. Twitter is currently working on a new set of APIs to support live streaming directly to Twitter (as a replacement for Periscope). Once available, Socialive will add a direct integration to Twitter Live. In the meantime, use one of the methods above to broadcast live to Twitter. We'll update you as we learn more about Twitter's timeline.
